Poster Analysis

                                                           The Dark Knight:

                                              

The most eminent thing on the poster is the fire in the building in the shape of Batman’s emblem. This typifies danger and may also mean that perhaps the dark knight is Batman himself as he is standing right beneath it. The statement at the top illustrates unlawful crippling that has crept over the city and everything around is in the state of pandemonium. Batman’s gesture and the way the low angle shot has been taken show that he is the main character in the movie and is muscly and authoritative. The smoke at the back gives a sense of destruction and chaos. It can also symbolize confusion, caution, mystery, mask or cover. The list of actors playing in the film is pretty clear and bold and may help in attracting audience. The main title, with bold, white font stands out well in the poster with the trademark Batman’s sign behind it. The details of the production company and the establishments taking part in the film have been given at the very bottom with somehow opaque and indecipherable font. But the release date has been written with upper case letters and with color that is in contrast with the dark background making it very prominent.




                                                          The Shawnshak Redemption:
 

This movie cover shows a man who appears to be rejoicing freedom. His body action shows that he wants to enjoy every drop of rain that hits his body like he hasn’t felt rainfall in forever. Along with this, the baggy clothing gives the idea that the person has gone through very difficult and hard times. The bright light on his face illustrates a sense of warmth and relief in contrast with the dark back of the character’s body giving the idea about the situation that he has just got out from. The slogan at the top shows what the main theme of the movie is. It says how fear can break a person while it does nothing to the man with hope who happens to be in the same situation. The color scheme is mainly dark and the contrast between light and dark colors could explain good and evil. The title of the movie is written in uppercase letters with style and color that stands out well and sharp. The names of the two main characters in the film are written with comparatively smaller font with orange color, still being fairly prominent. The details of the movie’s crew can be found at the very bottom.

Trailer Analysis - The Shawnshak Redemption

  SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION:

Shaw shank Redemption is an thriller movie which was released in 1994.The Trailer of the movie starts with a rather confusing and Conspiratorial atmosphere. Trailer shows that a man is standing in court who is being accused of murder but is not guilty for anything. the people providing evidence are the people who looks like as if they were culprits and are giving Conspiratorial evidence. Which would the man into big trouble.  The atmosphere and expressions of the culprit are shown as there is a reason due to which he is staying quite. Because he did not speak up the judge has ordered him to serve life sentence.

The next part of the trailer shows atmosphere of the jail and jail Security. Trailer shows that the head of jail security is a very tough guy and wants to see discipline everywhere. The Next bit of the trailer takes place at Jail. At jail the man ends up meeting to a guy who is in prison for a very long time. When the old guy asks the man why did he committed crime he denied by saying he didn’t do it on which the old guy giggled. The man moved away from him on which it made old guy to think about what kind of guy that man was. By these actions trailer reveals more about mans personality.

Next Part of the trailer reveals more about environment of jail and people there. it also shows that old guy and the man  have become good friends. after some time the trailer reveals what the man was actually wanting and what was he is in search of. When the old guy hears his idea and dream he warned him about how dangerous his plans can be. The Way old guy spoke up it looks like that he is very hopeless and sad about life. it reveals that old guy has no hope and enthusiasm to something. To show how dangerous the other guy plans can be the trailer shows frustration of another police officer along the old guy lines.The trailer goes on by showing that someone is trying to change jail place. Once the guy starts working on his plans he gets in attention of a police officer who is very frustrated and tries to catch him but his expressions shows that the guy has been successful in his plans.At the trailer shows us that something big has happened in jail after a long time. All prisoners have gathered at one place and looking at the sky which reveals that the guy is trying to change them and tell something which is followed by scene showing that the guy who has left the jail wants to do something new. His expressions show that he is very enthusiastic about life and wants to get on with it.                                               

In the end the trailer tells us about Tim Robbins life in Shawshank, further the shots overall are high angled on lead characters like Morgan Freeman & Tim Robbins are never shown in dominance except n last few seconds Tim Robbins topless covered in rain. Overall it’s an intriguing trailer not much enthusiastic but gives the right indications about this masterpiece.

Trailer Analysis - 17 Again

17 AGAIN 


Trailer starts with a non-gigantic background music which adjusts environment to a normal day & then after a second a big fancy house is shown with 2 cool cars on it’s porch. Then two guys are shown one in a suit in his late 30’s which indicates he might have a white collar job while other guy is in a sweater & pretty much chilled even wearing hobbit ears which indicates that he might be a huge movie freak.  Further they are shown In a wide angle discussing Mike’s life (the guy in a suit). It’s shown then that Mike’s wife Scarlett kicked him out of the house & his children doesn’t much care about him while this discussion clips are shown of Scarlett throwing Mike’s stuff out of the house & Mike’s children ignore Mike. Then the conclusion comes that it’s all negative.

Scene Ends, now new scene begins this time with a narration we are shown that Mike is 37 years old & a failure. Lights are bright until now. Now with a wide shot Mike is shown going through his high school where he encounters an old man who tells him that you wished you had your life all over again & Mike with a close agrees with him. Now suddenly, whole scene changes & we see a lonely car on a bridge. Lights are dark & environment is spooky so is the background music & we see digital numbers on radio all shacking which gives few more creeps. Now we see Mike in that car & out of nowhere that old man in school is standing on the bridge maybe committing a suicide & when Mike’s see’s it with a steady cam he’s shown getting out of the car & tries to stop that old man but somehow with the wind slips & goes right into the river.



                  

Then, narrator tells that Mike gets his old life back like his age goes back about 20 years & he’s 17 again. After that we see match in action of footsteps all dirty & full of mud getting in a house, then standing in a bathtub washing himself when camera goes up & we see Zac Efron instead of Matthew Perry who seems like the 17 year version of Mike. And when Mike realizes that he’s 17 again he screams in front of a mirror. Next thing is shown that Mike’s friend tells hi that it’s freaking him out while Mike in a higher tone tells him it’s freaking him out. Mike after figuring tells that it’s his chance to do it right  go back to high school with a close up while we see clips of Mike playing basketball in background from which we can state out that he was a basketball champion back in high school. His friend with an over the shoulder is shown telling Mike not to drag him but next thing we see that friend enrolling Mike to high school as his father while Mike trying to to be cool adds “Sup” as in what’s up. Trying to be cool Mike is wearing hip but after some girls makes fun of him. Next thing we are shown that Mike bring a new sports car & gets a new cool look & girls seems quite attracted to him & Mike nervously waves at his daughter who doesn’t recognizes him because of age factor. However, Mike’s shown being bullied by some football players & next thing we know that back in there house he’s eating too much because he’s hungry all the time where again light are bright. Narrator narrates that Mike’s back in the game & Mike is introduced to Scarlett by his son. When Scarlett notices him she grabs Mike’s face & weirdly tells that he resembles so much of her husband. Then Maggie (Mike’s daughter) is shown with a boy his boyfriend who bullies her little brother & when Mike confronts him she screams “ who do you think you are, my father ?” while this conversation Maggie’s shown kissing her boyfriend & her boyfriend bullying her little brother in cafeteria maybe. Next thing we’re shown Mike interrupting Maggie & his boyfriend all the time sometimes by throwing water o them & sometimes picking a fight with him & all these clips are shown for like a second or so. When Mike’s friend asks who won the fight now in a wide shot Mike replies it was even but friend confronts him “ on youtube it seemed he was kicking your butt”.

Narrator now tells that new line cinema presents where Mike interrupts him 7 tells Maggie that “ When you’re young everything feels like the end of the world but it’s not, it’s just the beginning ”. While Mike’s quoting some party clips by wide angle & shown close ups of Mike’ children are shown & even Mike’s shown dancing having fun whereas over light’s are bright as the genre is romantic comedy . Now in the last scene when Mike’s son tells  his mom that he made it to basketball team, Scarlett hugs him & even Mike hugs both of them then  Scarletts tells mike it’s super inappropriate. Trailer ends here & narrator tells the title & releasing date of the movie.

The Karate Kid

The movie starts with the subtitles from China group of Comapnies,Columbia pictures and Overbook Entertainment.Movie starts with a non-digetic sound,Tilt shot is used to show the events written in a veritcal wall along with their dates.Wide shot is used to show location of the wall,it shows a empty room where a boy(Dre) is lying on the bag.The lighting is high to show the emphasis on the object.The kid was lying on a travel bag means he is going somewhere.Morever the music was loud and the lighting was bright reflects the surroundings being normal but as the camera shows the same wall again music is low that reflects
loneliness and less lighting is used.It shows that after his 4th Birthday his father died.There have been no events written in the wall after that means thatmaybe his father use to wrote all the events of his early life.The camera takes a close-up of Dre face to show his emotions,he looks focused and the background music defines his sadness very well.

The camera height is eye-level to show that Dre is observing the wall.Dre then gets up from the bag and moves closer to the vertical wall.While he was moving towards the wall his mom says "Dre you're ready?",Then the camera shows the appearance of his mom.His mom is carrying a trolley with some cartoons on it.The camera takes a wide shot to show the surroundings.On the back there is empty cupboard which further tells the audience that they are probably leaving the house of going for a vacation.Shallow focus is used here,The lights on Dre face are high and camera level is low shows him as a positive character.The camera height is eye-level to show that Dre is observing the wall.Dre then gets up from the bag and moves closer to thevertical wall.While he was moving towards the wall his mom says "Dre youre ready?",Then the camera shows the appearance of his mom.His mom is carrying a trolly with some cartoons on it.The camera takes a wide shot to show the surroundings.On the back there is empty cupboard which further tells the audience that they are probably leaving the house of going for a vacation.Shallow focus is used here,The lights on Dre face are high and camera level is low shows him as a positive character.The lights on his mother are low because the camera wants the viewer to focus on what Dre is doing.Dre is drawing a straight-line using his head for support.This action shows that Dre still have childish habits in him.While Dre was writing in the wall his mom was saying "Start a new life in a magical new land".This tell the audience that they are leaving the house and shifting to somewhere else.Moreever the camera level is low and the light is high on Dre face that tells the audience he is in control.His facial expressions are normal seems like he is not happy to leave this house and genuinely not excited like his mom.

Furthermore,"you can say that" Dre replies to his mom,his reply further establishes his character that he is unwilling to move.The camera then takes a mid-shot of his mother.She looks around and smiles,her facial expression shows that she have a lot of memories with this house.The light is high and that shows he is trustworthy and leading a positive role in this movie.Again shallow focus technique is used to make viewer more focus on Dre actions.His mom calls him to leave and carry the luggage,when he leaves;the camera takes a close up of what Dre wrote on the wall "Moved to China".This line tells the location they are going and the music was loud to catch the attraction of the viewer.

The next shot begans with scenes from outside a old building,the music is low and the scenes are of rainy season represents sorrow.Dre and his mother is meeting with his relatives.They are putting luggage on the trunk of the taxi.While meeting with the relatives Dre is looking very sad,the wide shot of Dre hugging his
friend (charlie) clearly shows his emotions.Even when he sat on the car,his emotions are sad.Tells the viewer hoe badly he gonna miss this place.When Dre sits on the car the camera angle is low that gives a angel like image to Dre.Then the camera takes a wide shot of the boy to show his body language.Dre emotions changes when he sees him,he smiles while looking the boy.This tells the audience that dre and the boy have a deep understanding.The boy hand him over his skate-board.The light on dre's friend is high and his emotions are sad too,This maybe his best friend.The gesture they did after saying bye to each other further tells the viewer that Dre use to have a strong social network in Detroit.The camera constantly takes close-up of dre face,when his mom says him to close the door of the car.His friend is running with his car.At this moment the producer have used slow motion technique to tells the audience,Everything is going away from him.His friend waves him with smile.The music is sad and that reflects the emotions of dre of leaving his home town Detroit.The camera the shows the shots in the car,and the subtitles  started appearing on the screen.The empty streets and closed shops show the change of time,everything is going low and fun dre use to have here ends here.Moreever all the shots are taken in a rainy season that represents sadness.Further more the wide shot that shows the car on the road represents loneliness,during rain everyone is in their home sitting with their belongings while dre and his mother is moving away from all their friends and relatives.

The next shot began with the extreme wide shot of the plane.The camera is moving up and in the end shows *Air China* written on it.This is to further tell the viewer where dre and his mother are going to.Then there is wide shot inside the plane.Where dre and his mother are sitting in the right last seat of the plane.
There have been non-digetic sound and the lady telling the passengers that the plane is ready to take off.Dre is putting his bag in the luggage box of the plane and his mom say :got it.This tells the viewer that dre is not grown enough to do everything on his own.His mom is always there for him.Dre's facial expression changes
when his mom again started talking about the China.She was practising how she can communicate with chinese people,At the moment dre is simply ignoring what his mom is saying.The camera then took a close-up of the laptop to show how she's learning to speak Chinese.'Remember what that one is?' dre mom asks him,in reply dre put his head down that shows the sign of ignorance.He replies in a low tone 'No' that further re-difines his ignorance towards his mom.After a short pause his mom replie`s 'dre you're killing me'.The producer wants the viewer to understand the emotions of both characters,Dre the small boy who's leaving his hometown and is angry with his mom;where as his mom have to move away for her job and is trying to convince her child that he should accept in the same way like he did.Leaving Detroit was tough for her too but she is just trying to convince dre and is trying to get her concentration.Dre is not willing to move is further highlighted when he says China have old people.The camera takes a close-up of the book dre was looking at.His anger towards his mom and love for his hometown is constantly highlighted.Moreever on the other hand his mom wants him to concentrate on learning Chinese,She interrupts dre while he was saying China as old and asks him about Chinese language.The upset and willingness to convince his child is constantly shown.The camera then takes shot over the shoulder to record emotions on dre's face

When she asks him to practise these words in real.Dre is arguing with his mom.At that time the camera angel is low that shows his mom is in power.Dre was arguing but seeing his mother anger emotions he stops.The producer wants audience to know that Dre is scared of his mom,inspite being angry over his mom on leaving Detroit for China ,he listens to his mom when she tells him to practise Chinese in real.The camera takes close up of Dre's face,he is nervous and 'lips open' tells the audience he is confused.The camera then takes a two shot to show Dre communicating with the person sitting on his right.Dre is bad in speaking Chinese is shown
with his low tone and his raised eye-brow that shows its hard for him to remember the Chinese words.In reply the person (sitting next to Dre) tells he is from Detroit.After this exchange of words the music is loud and reflects hapiness and the name of the movie 'The Karate Kid' appears in the middle of them.The camera then takes the shot of plane taking off from outside.

The Dark Knight Rises

The movie starts with the non-diegetic sound and with the subtitles of Warner bros and legendary pictures.The black and white context gives a historical context to the viewer.The story of this movie continues after 8 years from the previous part,there is mid shot of the commissioner James Gordon (one of the finest police officer) 
addressing to the city.The camera angle was low and light on his face was high that tells the person is trustworthy and in a god like position.At the back of the  
commisioner there is picture of Harvey dent,the light on his face is also high"I knew harvey dent...it would take a long time to inspire us the way he did..noone 
can do work like him".These dialogues from James tells us that Harvey dent is known as the hero of Gotham city now.
                                           

After the speech,fade-out is used for editing,the next shot begans from the camera following the jeep in the crops.Mid shot is used in the car to tell the number of people sitting in the car.In the front seat two men are sitting a old man and a person driving the jeep,in the back 5 men are sitting 2 of them holding guns while the the remaining three are (criminals) their heads covered with black cloth.The person holding guns are police officers,there expressions are serious plus the back-ground music tells the audience something serious is going on.The jeep is going towards the aircarft.Wide-shot is used here to show the aircraft,its surrounded by three police
-men holding guns.Camera is mainly  focusing on the person ahead of the aircraft and the police-men.He is confident and the low angle of camera put police officer in power insight of the audience.Standing in front of the three police men tells that he is the person incharge.Common techinque of editing is constantly used here,it shows the faces of those three criminals sitting in the jeep covered with black cloth.

"Doctor Pablo,i am CIA" the policemen standing in front of the air craft says to the old man in the jeep.The old man(doctor) is pushed towards the aircraft after replying  the police officer that people work for bane are not his friends.The police officer starts conversation with the driver of the jeep.The camera takes a close close-up of the driver face,his facial expressions were serious & that marks something bad is going to happen."They work for the mercenary,the man with mask" driver tells the police-officer,"BANE?" the police-men replies,the driver shook his head.The next shot began with the extreme wide shot of the airplane.The next shot began with the extreme wide shot of the plane,the aircraft is flying over the mountains.There is constantly terrifying non-diegetic sound.The next shot starts in the air-craft,doctor Pablo is sitting.

on the aircraft seat while the three criminals are put down on their knees.The CIA is standing in front of the three criminals."its me,my men and doctor Pablo here but only one of you,(point out gun to the criminals)first one to talk will stay on my aircraft" the CIA (police-men) shouts.The camera is taking the mid-shot of the police officer to mark his actions.The police-men is criticizing the criminals that if they don't speak he will throw them out of the plane.The police-men and his men are trying to make the criminals speak up by putting one of the criminals head out of the plane."Who sent you to grab doctor pablo" the police
men shouts,he waits for the answer and then shoots the bullet in the air to make criminal speak up.The camera is taking extreme close-up of the policemen face,his anger and willingness to know about their plan is making him furious.The policemen the puts second criminal head out of the plane and asks him about the mystery of BANE'S wearing mask."low loyalty for higher gun"the police-men shouts towards the criminal whose head is out of the plane & at the same time Bane (the third criminal) speaks up "Perhaps he is wondering why someone would shoot him out,before throwing him out of the plane".The policemen turns and says "Atleast you can talk,who are you?" in reply bane says "it doesn't matter who we are,what matters is our plan".During these exchange of words the camera took a close-up of policemen face,he is confused & and intimidated.Morever the light on bane's face is low as compared to the officer.During the exchange of words the police men said "you're a big guy".That tells the 
viewer he have good physique,morever his mysterious voice,confidence and low camera level thats tells the viewer he is in power and is likely to cause trouble for 
the police officer.The example of bane's confidence can be spot on when the police officer asked him "is your plan still working?" he replies at the same moment

'ofcourse'.The next shot began with the extreme wide shot of the plane passing near the mountains,a big and better plane than the police plane comes into screen.The big plane was
flying above the police plane.Midshot is used in the police plane to show their actions and facial expressions.The guards standing near the CIA were nervous and were looking outside from the plane's window,while the pilots were nervous because the police plane was shaking.The background music is fast and terrifying that further establishes intrest in the viewer.(Maybe the plan bane was talking is on his move).Police men (CIA) asks bane about their master plan,at that time camera takes a extreme close-up of bane's eyes his eyes were aggressive and were ready to put down all the obstacles that come in his plan's way.Low angle is constantly used for 
bane's face to make it inspire fear and insecurity in the viewer who is psychologically dominated by the figure on the screen."crashing this plane with no survivors" bane said to policemen and quickly stands on his feet.The plane that was travelling above the police plane was there to help bane.His men jumped from there to the police plane.They attacked the police and tie the police plane with their big plane.The police plane was out of control.Bane's men wasting no time make a way into the police plane using explosives on the tail of the plane.The non diegetic sounds were continuously terriyfying.Bane's men entered into the plane and bough a dead body with them.Bane used a tool to put some of the doctor's blood on that dead body.Bane was doing everything using his master mind.He was aware after crashing police 
there would be investigations so he but doctor's blood on that dead body,so the investigators can officialy call the doctor as dead.Bane tied himself and the doctor  with the ropes thrown by the big plane.Camera continuously shows his aggressiveness by close up of bane's face.while he was making his way out of the police plane he stopped one of his men to stay,because he didn't want investigators to think that there are some bodies missing in the plane.Bane appearance,dialogues and strong leadership makes him a powerful person to led villain role in this movie.'the fire rises' he said before leaving the plane that dialogue marks the beginning of his master plan to destroy Gotham.
